Shannon Mulcahy holds her granddaughter Carmella before a dental appointment at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. Carmella was born with a rare chromosomal disorder that limits her mobility and health. Mulcahy works almost every day at Rexnord Bearings, but, through the Family and Medical Leave Act, is able to accompany Bub, at left, and Carmella to her many doctor's appointments.

Mulcahy, a steelworker, will travel back and forth to Mexico as her employer Rexnord Bearings moves its operations to the country. Mulcahy will train her replacements.
