Mackinac Island, Michigan -- Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Yankee Rebel Tavern chef Phil Harrington, at right, works alongside Kenroy Dacosta of Jamaica. Harrington, who is an American seasonal worker, has been putting in extra hours to make up for the loss of workers under the H-2B visa program. Dacosta was able to come to Mackinac by extending his visa for a cruise line.

After a recent change to the H-2B visa program, which offers foreign workers temporary, low-skilled jobs, remote American tourism destinations, like Mackinac Island, are struggling to fill seasonal work positions.
