Shannon Mulcahy holds her granddaughter Carmella outside of their home in Whitestown, a community north of Indianapolis. Mulcahy is preparing for the loss of her job in the late summer and worries she will not be able to pay the mortgage for her home where she lives with her granddaughter Carmella, her son Bub and her boyfriend Larry.

Mulcahy, a steelworker, will travel back and forth to Mexico as her employer Rexnord Bearings moves its operations to the country. Mulcahy will train her replacements.
