Bismarck, North Dakota - Sept 9, 2016

Roberta Kirk, who traveled from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs in Oregon, dances with Standing Rock Sioux Chairman David Archambault II, at right, during a rally after learning that the United States government ordered a pause in construction on part of the Dakota Pipeline. The rally was held at the North Dakota State Capitol.

In a historic gathering of more than a hundred Native American tribes from across North America, protestors are rallying to stop the pipeline they fear will poison the Missouri River, which runs through the Standing Rock Sioux reservation.
