Rockford, Michigan -- Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017

Meghan and Zach Raven pose for a portrait in her home. The Ravens built their home in Belmont about a year ago without knowledge of toxic leather scraps, the relics of a Hush Puppies shoe factory, buried for decades in the soil. New test results show that waterproofing chemicals in those scraps have tainted the area’s drinking water. Meghan Raven said she worries about how the pollutants may affect her young children.
