WHEATON, ILL - MARCH 14:

In a co-taught English class, junior Shaley Pelafas works with teacher Ellen Murphy, at right, at Wheaton North High School on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

Hidden inequities lurk in many schools in the U.S. They might have high graduation rates, good test scores, and lots of students enrolling in college, etc. But if you dig a little deeper, you find black and Hispanic students, and poor students, are often not getting access to the same opportunities, and levels of success, as their white and affluent peers.
